National Park Kongernes Nordsjælland

Store Dyrehave
Store Dyrehave, where you will find the Parforcejagt landscape, which is the only Danish World Heritage Site to have been selected for UNESCO and National Geographic’s major initiative WORLD HERITAGE JOURNEY’S EUROPE. The star-shaped path system that characterizes the landscape was created by Christian V to practice parforce-hunting, inspired by the Sun King at Versailles.

The pilgrimage routes
From Hillerød Camping you can experience two out of three stages of the North Zealand Pilgrimage Route. North towards Esrum Abbey, which takes you around Frederiksborg Castle, North Zealand’s oldest church, Nødebo Church, and Denmark’s next largest lake, Esrum Lake. Or south towards Ballerup, where the route passes several churches and the St. Joseph Carmel Monastery, where it is possible to stop for a coffee break. The arboretum in Hørsholm
At Arboretum Hørsholm you’ll find the largest collection of shrubs and trees in Denmark, originally established in 1936 to teach botany and plant use at the University of Copenhagen. The site is still used for research, but is also open to visitors with a general interest in botany.

I Esther’s Garden landscaper Esther Geneser has laid out around 9,000 of her 38,000-square-meter plot as a Provence-inspired landscape, with lavender, flowers and trees arranged as seen in the south of France and Italy. She regularly organizes events and courses in flower arranging and more.
